Aloha My Scrappy Friends!! Today I am taking part in a School themed YT/Blog Hop that was started by my good friend Megan, or Crafty Meggy (as she is known on YT). I have tons of school pictures of my kids, many of them not scrapped at all. I thought that taking part in this Hop would help give me a push to scrap some of them.
All this Week Megan is going to be posting Layouts/Videos on back to school layouts. I am hoping I can knock a couple out myself too. So Stay tuned. There will be prizes and challenges. Plus I love Hops, jumping from one blog to another getting to know my scrappy friends more!! After I share my Layout I will have the list of Scrappers participating in the Hop.
For my layout I thought I would make a mood board to use. I love mood boards, which if you follow me you already know this, but I really love making them. Only recently have I really started to make my own. I love the process of scouring all over Pinterest looking for things that inspire me and capture the feeling or color I want.
Here is my Mood board!! You can also see all the pictures I used to create my mood board with. You can find that here.
I really wanted to focus on classic school things, like notebooks and pencils, apples and kids craft things. I also had in the back of my mind that I wanted to use some of the Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers Collection. I love the colors in that collection and how they are not quite traditional for Back to school.
I use PicMonkey when I want to create my own mood board. I like that there are tons of different collage styles to choose from. I am thinking of doing a video coming up showing how I put a mood board together.
After I made the board, I looked through my papers to see what papers I wanted to use and what I thought went with the mood board. I pulled out some Amy Tangerine (Finders Keepers), Dear Lizzy (Documentary), Websters Pages, Pink Paislee (Atlas), and Shimelle (True Stories). When I started pulling papers I thought that cutting out leaves and scatter them on the page, like leaves on a bulletin board.
Because the leaves are pretty busy, in a good way, I only added a couple layers behind my photo. Which was really hard let me tell you!!
I really liked the August calendar cut apart, and I wanted to use the calendar paper from Dear Lizzy.
I used a few school themed die cut from both Dear Lizzy and Amy Tangerine. I love how fun and colorful the Amy Tangerine camera is, it i perfect for this photo of my kiddos on their first day of school.
Since we home school, school just seems like part of daily life and not as special. Even though we have a routine that we follow, try to follow at least. They were so excited to use their new notebooks, they picked out. We all were happy to have a separate school room this year instead of using the dining room table.
I finished off with the title under my photo. I used Thickers that came out with Amy Tangerine’s last collection, with silver foiled lines on them. I also wanted to use some black and white tile stickers from October Afternoon. This mini market stickers remind me of a blackboard.
I had a lot of fun doing this layout and taking part of this back to school theme Hop. This layout was a little different then I usually do but I really love it. The colors are so much fun and remind me of childhood!!
You can watch the process video I posted on my Youtube channel for the Hop.
Here is the list of the other scrapbookers taking part in this Hop, they all are so talented!!
Until Next time, Aloha
